Reach for the Moon

Snapped over the rooftops of King’s Cross, October 2011. The statue represents the Roman god, Mercury and can be spotted on top of ‘Willing House’ on Gray’s Inn Road. Constructed in 1909 as the HQ for an advertising company, Willing House is now home to a Travelodge.

A nice capture.

We know that statue well as we live quite near Kings Cross. We used to see it from the rear on starting many of our expeditions from what was in the old days the Thameslink railway station. Mercury can be seen from the southbound platform.

Rail services have been transferred to St Pancras which is a very fine station but I still have a nostalgic hankering for the old Thameslink station…
